About a year ago Downtown Fresno had began to demolish the old Monterey Street Bridge which once connected Golden State Boulevard and Broadway Street. Built in 1948, it had been closed for years due to its deteriorating state. Not only was it once a functional bridge it was shelter for the nearby homeless community. At one point there was a ministry at the bottom of the bridge which was ran by one of the homeless residents. This small edit I made pays homage to the history of this bridge and its connection with Fresno.
